Implants are replacement tooth roots made out of titanium that are specially designed so that they become securely attached to the bone through a process called osseointegration.  Implant crowns are screwed or cemented onto implants or implant components, usually after a waiting period that allows the bone time to heal.

Implant crowns are fabricated by taking an impression of the implant after the bone has healed and choosing a shade for the new crown.  The dental laboratory makes a crown that is custom fit for that implant.  The crown resembles traditional crown and bridge dentistry.

It is possible to replace a single tooth, several teeth or a full arch.  Implants and implant crowns make it possible to replace missing teeth with a beautiful crown that is much more stable than a removable partial denture.
